In 2002, the partnership between renowned Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and sports brand Adidas was formed. The "Y" being a connotation for Yohji Yamamoto and "3" being a nod to Adidas' 3 stripes. Both Yohji and Adidas represent quality within their own sectors.
